Homophobia

I personally believe that homophobia is wrong. We are no one to judge who other people should love. Take the relationship between the two individuals in the video. They have feelings towards each other and they are being bullied for it. Everyone should stand up for what they believe it. If someone makes you happy and society doesn't approve then they shouldnt let that stop them. If someone sees that you stand up for what you believe in others will do the same.

Opinion Peace

After a long day at work or school what you want to do is go home to relax and watch television. As soon as you turn on the TV all you ever hear in the news is about the death of soldiers that occurred in Iraq or how they were bombed at sea. How are you supposed to relax with all this violence going on?
The reason for there not being peace on earth is caused by a variety of factors. There is an element in particular which places the most significant impact on why there is no peace on earth. The main reason is that our society is greedy. The human race is always bound to want more than what they already have even if it is not a necessity.
The fact that people are greedy doesn’t just affect us in a single city, single state, but rather worldwide. As much as people may claim that they are not greedy individuals they will reach a point in life where they will be. Maybe not intentionally but they will.
Greed is something that is not easy to control. It is in our nature to always want more than what we’ve already been provided.
For instance, take the ongoing war between Iraq and the U.S. they fight for the oil and other resources. There are better solutions to this than just war. They can simply do an alliance and share, but they much rather go through battle to obtain all the control.
It is not fair for the soldiers that are engaged in battle to be putting their life at stake when there is a better solution. It is also not fair for the military families that have to constantly worry if their loved one will return home safely or if they are going to receive that phone call that will change their life forever.
People tend to get carried away and begin to think of the things they want rather than what they need. Their essentials of life become insignificant and they begin to emphasize more on the materialistic things. They think that the essentials of life such as peace aren’t as important because it isn’t shown in a materialistic way for example when you’re walking down the street.
The thing that most individuals don’t know is that peace is something that will always overpower anything money-oriented. Even the wealthiest people in the world can have anything they want but they are still in one sense unhappy because they lack love and inner peace which are things that cannot be bought.
Some people ask, when do you know you’ve reached the pursuit of happiness? Honestly, no one reaches the pursuit of happiness because when you set a goal to yourself and you attain it, you will challenge yourself for an even more difficult task and the cycle will never end.

My commitments

I think a good way to start contributing to society peace wise is by setting yourself up with goals. For example as a short term goal, i would like to just have a more possitive attitude towards people. Just by being with someone that has a happy personally becomes contagious. As for my long term goal, i want inner peace. Because if i can carry that with me throughout my lifetime i have reached my own definition of peace. Not only that, but also help spread the word to my family and friends about it. If i can get someone to find peace within themselves I know i will have made an change. Even if I'm not able to fulfill these goals that I have challanged myself with, I know that just for the simple fact that I've put them into consideration makes a difference.

Reaching inner peace.

The world that we live in, is surrounded by violence. Since early time, there has been violence going on. If it has been going on for so long how do we expect it to suddenly stop? Theres a high possibility that it probably won't. The only thing that we are left with is inner peace. As an individual that doesn't believe that we will reach a point where there will be peace worldwide i like to have inner peace. Inner peace means that you are mentally and emotionally at ease. What is the point of stressing over that fact that we have no peace around the world and risking your health? Just find peace within yourself and hope for the best.

Iraq

Iraq is a country that is going through a lot of conflicts. The U.S went into war, and is currently taking place in Iraq. The Iraqi soldiers are sending secretive sniper attacks. The randomness of assault is especially horrifying. The dead soldiers are not necessarily engaged in "battle" some are just standing guard and they get shot at. Which means that the Iraqins are being skeaky. This affects not only the soldiers in U.S and Iraq, but also the individuals living there. I personally think that after being in a place that is constantly in war with another country affects the people's mental state. For example, the sneaky attacks are a form of how unstable their mind is. This is something that should be stopped right now before it continues to get out of hand.

Re: The Coalition for Adolescent Girls

Discrimination is an issue that has been going on for years. Up until now there is racial discrimination as well as gender. Females are the ones who have been affected by such matter. Women in particular have suffered gender discrimination the most due to the fact that they are considered inferior to the men. Even as adolescents they are looked down upon. Denying them the right to earn an education is a form of inequity. With an education adolescent girls can help decrease to poverty percentage. Making them the primary source to better their community

The Coalition for Adolescent Girls is an organization that want to make an impact on each adolescent by providing them an education and good health hygiene. They are well aware of their situation and want to create a more well rounded girl. If an adolescent girl age from 10-19 is in school it will decrease the marital status. By being involved in the organization there are great outcomes to each adolescent girl. For example, they provide a series of programs to help with their education. They have the one-on-one mentoring as well as the after school tutoring which its main purpose is to dedicate time to their studies rather than a part time jobs. It provides training beyond format curriculum for development of skills for social and civic participation. Such programs help achieve their educational and developmental needs. They also discovered if they have a good hygiene they are less likely to obtain any disease such as HIV which is a serious problem for adolescent girls.

The only qualification required to participate in this program is to be a female. Due to the gender discrimination individuals found a way to make the women equal to men. With this organization they provide such opportunity. For many years women have had to deal with the unfairness their community handles their population. By participating in the organization they acknowledge their full potential mentally. This helps them to learn new techniques to better their well being along with their families and the community. Not only mentally but physically as well. This is how they teach a young girl to be well rounded by educating her not just about her books but also the environment.

The Coalition for Adolescent Girls website provides all types of information. It includes real life story and experiences each girl has encountered by being involved in the organization. How it changed their way of life. The statistics of how girls that attend school as teenagers and remain in school decrease their marital status and child birth. The most important information presented is on ways on how to get involved. Even a little effort can help their community dramatically. You can view a variety of pictures of adolescent girls which gives the viewer a more vivid description of what the organization does and about the individuals participating.

Building Peace.

Many individuals around the world have different beliefs on building peace. A lot of them say there going to help people but never actually do. There’s a difference from saying you going to do something rather than actually doing it. The man in this video Greg Mortenson was very inspirational. He stumbled into these strangers when he was ill and they nurtured him back to health. Although these people lived in poverty they still helped him. During the time of his rehabilitation he got a chance to look around. He would see the constant struggles people had to face with daily and decided to create a way of helping those in need. What caught his attention was the children's strong desire to acquire an education. He believed that by creating schools for the less fortunate was a way of bringing peace. Although he knew there would be obstacles along the way such as poverty, gender discrimination, and tradition he still decided on pursuing his goal. In order to provide schools for them, he needed money. An elementary in Wisconsin made a positive impact by creating an organization called "Pennies for Peace" as a way to help raise money, their contribution helped. Part of his goal was also to educate the women. Due to gender discrimination they weren't allowed to go to school. Thanks to the help of Greg Mortenson it all changed. When you see the measures an individual is willing to go to aid someone is enlightening.
