Building Peace.
Many individuals around the world have different beliefs on building peace. A lot of them say there going to help people but never actually do. There’s a difference from saying you going to do something rather than actually doing it. The man in this video Greg Mortenson was very inspirational. He stumbled into these strangers when he was ill and they nurtured him back to health. Although these people lived in poverty they still helped him. During the time of his rehabilitation he got a chance to look around. He would see the constant struggles people had to face with daily and decided to create a way of helping those in need. What caught his attention was the children's strong desire to acquire an education. He believed that by creating schools for the less fortunate was a way of bringing peace. Although he knew there would be obstacles along the way such as poverty, gender discrimination, and tradition he still decided on pursuing his goal. In order to provide schools for them, he needed money. An elementary in Wisconsin made a positive impact by creating an organization called "Pennies for Peace" as a way to help raise money, their contribution helped. Part of his goal was also to educate the women. Due to gender discrimination they weren't allowed to go to school. Thanks to the help of Greg Mortenson it all changed. When you see the measures an individual is willing to go to aid someone is enlightening.

Wow. That's very true that he went through all of that stuff just to give the children, mainly girls, in Pakistan and Afghanistan an education. He is, to me, considered a hero because he helping people in another area of the world be giving them a chance to become educated individuals so that they could do something productive, like stimulate their economy. It's really cool.
ReplyDeleteThis guy is one of the few out there who is making a difference out in the world and giving peace to others. If we would just put more effort into helping others, the world would be a better place.
ReplyDeletei think the kids wanting an education says a lot..many people here take education for granted instead of appreciating it
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you on what you first said, many people have the intention of doing something but they're just too lazy. Our society has lost morals over time.
